The short version

Last on, first off. Put your jewelry on after lotion, sunscreen, and perfume, take it off before the shower, the ocean, and sleep. Wipe with a soft cloth after wear. Store it dry, in its pouch.

Gold fill

14k gold fill is a thick bonded layer of gold, not plating, so it holds up to daily wear for years. It still appreciates being kept dry and wiped down. If it dulls, warm water, a drop of mild soap, and a soft cloth bring it back. No abrasive polishing cloths, those are for solid metals.

Sterling silver

Silver tarnishes with air and skin chemistry, that's natural. A silver polishing cloth removes it in seconds. Storing silver in its pouch slows tarnish more than anything else you can do.

Stones

Turquoise, coral, and other natural stones are porous. Keep them away from perfume, oils, and long soaks in water. Their color deepening slightly over years of wear isn't damage, it's the stone keeping a record of you.
